On December 02, 2024, nursing students from Vancouver Island University (VIU) Nursing program who deliver the BEFORE PARTY program accept a cheque for $2500 from Central Vancouver Island Crime Stoppers.
The Before Party Program is an educational program that was launched in 2012 and is delivered to Grade 8 students across central Vancouver Island by 4th year nursing students from VIU. The program offers appropriate resources and strategies to assist the students in making healthy decisions, and to hopefully steer them away from a life of drugs and crime. The funding will go towards the purchase of a laptop and audio-visual equipment for use in the student presentations.
Central Vancouver Island Crime Stoppers supports initiatives which over time help to reduce crime in our communities. By educating youth at a time when they are vulnerable, this program will help us achieve that goal. From money raised and donations, Central Vancouver Island Crime Stoppers is able to fund a variety of grant applications from Tofino to Lake Cowichan.
