One male has been arrested and two other adults are being sought in an attempted break and enter to a barn on a rural property in Cedar. The incident occurred at approximately 10 am on Sunday April 26th 2020 in the 1200 block of Maughan Road.

The property owner told officers he noticed the lock on the door to the barn had been broken off and minutes later, heard a vehicle horn sounding. Two males were seen running from his property. The complainant snapped a picture of the female driver and vehicle plate before she drove off. Officers also located bolt cutters near the barn. Police Dog Services attended and tracked the two males but were unable to locate them. Evidence was found along the track which is believed to be associated to the suspects.

Officers followed up on the vehicle information, and located the registered owner driving the suspect vehicle in the vicinity of his home. The male , age 36, and known to police was arrested without incident for the attempted break and enter. He was later released from police custody on an Undertaking and is expected to make his first appearance in Nanaimo Provincial court on July 7th 2020. Officers are confident the female driver and the other male suspect will be identified, and the investigation continues.
