The Nanaimo RCMP is investigating a stabbing of an adult female who received a serious but non-life threatening injury. A 31 year old male was arrested for the incident which occurred at a home on Glenayr Drive, at approximately 2 am on Wednesday April 29th, 2020.

Officers attended to the residence and learned that the male suspect, who is known to the victim, had allegedly attempted to rob the victim of an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect allegedly produced a knife and when the victim resisted, she was stabbed. BC Paramedics transported the injured 28 year old to the Nanaimo hospital for medical attention. The male suspect fled but was located nearby by police and taken into police custody without incident. Upon his arrest, police located several knives on the suspect.

31 year old Michael Hansen of Nanaimo has been charged with Assault with a Weapon, Robbery and Uttering Death Threats. Later in the day on April 29th, Hansen was released from custody with his next court appearance set for July 21st, 2020 in Nanaimo Provincial court.
