A 53-year-old Nanaimo man was taken to hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a motor vehicle in Cedar. The collision occurred in the 1700 block of Cedar Road at approximately 10:30 pm on Sunday May 17th, 2020.
Police and EHS attended. The investigation determined the male victim was walking with another male southbound on Cedar Road. For unknown reasons, the victim decided to cross the roadway and in doing so, was struck by a northbound F350 pickup, driven by a 37-year-old Cedar resident. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The victim was transported to the Nanaimo hospital. The vehicle involved was seized and will undergo a mechanical inspection and the investigation is continuing.
