The Nanaimo RCMP is asking the public for assistance in locating 50-year-old John Martin Bates, wanted for an Assault and Assault with a Weapon. The warrants stem from two incidents; the first in February 2020 and the most recent occurring in April of 2020.
In the February incident, Bates allegedly assaulted a female by striking her in the face. Then in April, Bates is reported to have broken a bowl over her head of the same female. The female did not sustain injuries and each time, Bates fled prior to police arriving.The investigation into both incidents resulted in charges being laid and warrants issued.
