Nanaimo RCMP Media Advisory
Nanaimo file # 2020-7117

On February 22, 2020 the Nanaimo RCMP recovered a significant amount of suspected stolen property. To date investigators have been unable to determine where it came from or who owns it. Several pictures of the items seized are attached.

On the date in question, officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a local 7-11. In the vehicle were two individuals, known to the officers and also known to be active in property related offences. In the vehicle and in plain view, officers saw a number of items which included men’s and women’s watches, semi-precious stones, jewelry, coins and foreign currency.  When asked where the items came from, the males stated they were collectors, which did not sit well with the officers. Based on the evidence at hand, the items were seized out of a concern it had been obtained through criminal activity.

If you have information on the origin or ownership of any of these items, please contact Cst Fabrice Cambry of the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 and quote file # 2020-7117.  Please bear in mind, the Nanaimo detachment is currently closed to the public due to the COVID-19 health crisis, so do not attend in person, “said Constable Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.
