A 22 year old female from Nanaimo sustained serious injuries in a motor vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 5:15 pm on Tuesday April 28th 2020, near the intersection of Jingle Pot Road and Third St.
Police, Fire and BC Ambulance responded. Investigators spoke with several witnesses who came to the aid of the female who was the lone occupant and driving an older model Honda Accord. Investigators believe the vehicle was travelling eastbound on Third St when the driver lost control and ended up in a ditch on the left side of the roadway. The driver was taken to the Nanaimo hospital, and later transported to a Victoria hospital.
The crash caused the closure of the roadway in both directions for several hours while investigators examined the scene. Speed and weather conditions are considered to be contributing factors. The vehicle involved, was towed from the scene and will be subject to a mechanical inspection.
The investigation is continuing.
